Causes Of Chest Pain

Chest pain can take many forms, from a sharp stabbing to a mild ache. Sometimes the pain in the chest is an aching or a burning sensation. Occasionally, the pain travels from the neck to the jaw and spreads to the back and one or both arms.

Various problems can cause chest pain. The most life-threatening causes involve the heart or lungs. Chest pain can indicate a serious problem, so please consult your doctor right away.

According to the National Institute of Health, around 8 million people every year in the United States are admitted to the ER (Emergency Room) due to chest pain, and 20%-40% of the general population worldwide suffer from some or the other kind of chest pain.

Heart-Related Causes of Chest Pain (Pain on the left side of the chest)

Heart Attack

The most common symptom of a heart attack is chest pain. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most heart attacks are accompanied by discomfort in the middle or left side of the chest that lasts longer than a few minutes or disappears and recurs. Discomfort can feel like unpleasant pressure, pressure, bloating, or pain, you should consult your medical professional right away.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Myocarditis is caused due to viral infection and can have similar symptoms to a heart attack. If you feel any discomfort near your heart area that imitates the symptoms of heart attack then rush to your doctor’s office immediately.

Angina

Angina is chest pain often caused by thick plaque buildup on the inner walls of the arteries that carry blood to the heart. These plaques narrow the arteries, restricting blood supply to the heart, especially during physical activity. Please consult your doctor if you feel you’re suffering from this disease.

Aortic aneurysm and dissection

Aortic discretion is a life-threatening condition involving a tear or separation of the inner layer of the aorta. It can cause blood buildup in arteries. This condition needs immediate medical assistance.

Gallbladder

This pain can be felt in the right chest or upper right abdomen after eating fatty food. Some people might just experience fullness instead of pain, either way do consult a medical professional.

Esophageal Spasm

Esophageal spasms or contractions result in the food pipe and can cause chest pain. They are high-pressure contradictions in the food pipe. In case of any such pain and contradictions, visit your nearest hospital or doctor’s office.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Also referred to as GERD, occurs when the stomach contents are moved up to the throat, which leaves a burning sensation in the chest and a sour taste in the mouth. This can be caused due to a number of reasons which include obesity, smoking, and pregnancy. The diagnosis can be given to you only through a doctor.
