GAMMAKED is a sterile, pure 10% solution of human immunoglobulins. Immunoglobulins are antibodies extracted from human plasma. Antibodies aid in the defense of the body against bacteria and viruses that cause illnesses.
GAMMAKED is an injectable immunoglobulin (IG) used as a “replacement” therapy for primary humoral immunodeficiency diseases, in which individuals do not have enough functional antibodies to combat infections. IG therapy is also used to treat autoimmune and inflammatory illnesses such as CIDP and ITP.
Warnings
Gammaked (immune globulin injection (subcutaneous or IV)) may increase the risk of blood clots. The risk is increased in older individuals, if you are confined to a bed or chair for an extended period of time, if you use estrogen products, or if you have specific catheters. Some health issues, such as thick blood, cardiac difficulties, or a history of blood clots, increase the risk of blood clots. Even if you don’t have any of these health issues, blood clots can occur.
If you feel numbness or weakness on one side of your body, pain, redness, tenderness, warmth, or swelling in your arms or legs, a change in the color of an arm or leg, chest discomfort or pressure, shortness of breath, a rapid heartbeat, or coughing up blood, call your doctor straight once. Consult your doctor.
Human immune globulin has caused kidney issues. These issues have sometimes proven fatal. People who consume sucrose-containing goods are more likely to have kidney issues. The majority of immune globulin preparations do not include sugar. If you have kidney issues, high blood sugar (diabetes), fluid loss (dehydration) or low blood volume, a blood infection, or abnormal proteins in your blood, your risk of these disorders increases. If you are 65 or older, or if you take other medicines that may hurt your kidneys, your risk may be increased. If you have any doubts regarding this information or whether your product contains sucrose, see your doctor.
Before receiving Gammaked (immune globulin injection (subcutaneous or IV), you must ensure that you are not dehydrated. Consult your doctor to determine whether you should drink more water before receiving Gammaked (immune globulin injection (subcutaneous or IV).
